The Asian American Journalists Association recognized coverage from Metro and Opinion.

The Times has won two Journalism Excellence Awards from the Asian American Journalists Association for work published in 2024. Congratulations!

The reporters Nicole Hong and Michael Rothfeld were recognized for Excellence in Investigative Reporting for their reporting on the dance group Shen Yun and its relentless exploitation of young performers.

Nicole and Michael gained the trust of reluctant sources, obtained photos and recordings from inside Shen Yun's guarded New York headquarters and pried loose hundreds of pages of business contracts and other internal documents.

And the guest essayist Cindy Zhu Huijgen was recognized for Excellence in Commentary / Op-Ed / Perspective for "I Was Adopted From China as a Baby. I'm Still Coming to Terms With That." The piece explored her experience growing up in a Dutch family and the search for her birth parents. Congratulations to Dan Martin for commissioning and editing Cindy's essay.
